The June 2019 Visa Bulletin was released by the U.S. Department of State (DOS) on May 14, 2019. In addition to the final action dates and dates for filing applications, the bulletin also includes notes about India EB-1 preference visa availability, EB-5 preference visa availability, and more. There is notable movement in the “dates of filing” for the family-based, second preference category for spouses and children of permanent residents (F2A).
USCIS also released the June 2019 Adjustment of Status Filing Charts, which indicates whether to use the Dates for Filing chart or Final Action Dates chart to determine when you may file your adjustment of status application. For family-sponsored filings, you must use the Dates for Filing chart in the Department of State Visa Bulletin for June 2019. For employment-based preference filings, you must use the Final Action Dates chart in the Department of State Visa Bulletin for June 2019.
For green card applicants living abroad, knowing the filing date for your category allows you to begin the process of compiling and submitting all required documents to the National Visa Center. For applicants living in the United States, there are additional benefits. When filing the green card application with USCIS, you can also apply for a work permit and travel permit at the same time. If you intend to work in the United States or travel while waiting for your green card application to be processed, these benefits are critical.
